Stolen property recovered at Caledonia house

Two men have been charged in a stolen property and drug case that might solve a string of recent burglaries.

Richard Allen Dent, 40, Caledonia, was charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property on October 31. He was arrested on October 28.

Charges of drug and stolen property possession are also expected in the case against a 49-year-old man from Mabel who was arrested by Fillmore County authorities on Friday evening.

The Houston County Sheriffís Department was alerted to the case when it recovered a stolen ATV from a residence in Caledonia on October 27. The investigation led to search warrants in Caledonia and Mabel, with the assistance of the Fillmore and Allamakee (Iowa) County Sheriffsí Departments.

Deputies recovered stolen property from recent burglaries that occurred in all three counties. Tools, guns, food, and hunting and trapping equipment were confiscated.

Controlled substances thought to be methamphetamine and marijuana were also seized at both locations.

Further charges are expected, according to the Houston County Sheriffís Department.

Dent is in the Houston County jail on $20,000 unconditional bail and $10,000 conditional bail. His next court appearance is November 14 at 10 a.m.
