Stabbing, burglary in Caledonia
Caledonia police responded to a stabbing and a burglary/assault on Thursday, November 17.
The stabbing call came at about 4:50 p.m. as a medical emergency at a Caledonia home on West Washington Street. Police officers who responded found a man with a severe cut on his hand.
At the same time a man went to the Caledonia Clinic with a knife wounds to his stomach and side.
Police officers determined that the two men were having an argument over a female, and it escalated. One man grabbed a knife from a sink by the blade, cutting his hand, and then swung it around and cut the other man in his stomach and side, Shefelbine said. The man was admitted to a La Crosse hospital, but has been discharged. Shefelbine expected charges to be filed against both men.
In the other incident that day, police were called to a Caledonia home at 11:23 p.m. Anthony Daley, 20, Caledonia, allegedly broke down the door to a womanís home and physically assaulted her. Police Say Daley fled on foot, and was arrested a short time after that.
Daley was charged on November 18 with first and second degree burglary, criminal damage to property, fifth degree assault, and underaged consumption of alcohol. He was released on these charges, but is being held in the Houston County jail because his probation officer has a hold on him, jail administrator Mark Schiltz said on November 21. A hearing will be held to determine if Daley should go back to Wisconsin or Iowa. He is on probation in both states. His probation was transferred to Minnesota because he was living here, Schiltz said.
