Irene Treangen

Irene Jeanette (Staven) Treangen, 83, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.

Irene was born September 27, 1922 at Caledonia to Olaf and Olga (Otterness) Staven. She attended rural school at North Black Hammer and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1942.

On April 21, 1943 she married Bernard Eddy, they had two sons, Gordon and Bruce. They later divorced in 1952.

On November 26, 1955 Irene married Gilman Treangen. They had a daughter Anita.

Irene was a farmerís wife for several years before moving to Spring Grove in 1965. She was an employee of Control Data in Spring Grove for three years, and worked as a dietary aide at Tweeten Lutheran Hospital for twenty years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and its womenís groups. She was also a member of the Spring Grove American Legion Auxiliary for thirty-five years.

Survivors include her children, Gordon (Brit) Eddy of Cresco, IA, Bruce (Sandy) Eddy of Caledonia, and Anita (Mike) Hahn of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother Herbert (Mardelle) Staven; one brother-in-law, Orvel (Valborg) Treangen; and three sisters-in-law, Ardes Staven, Rosie Olson, and Florence Treangen, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband Gilman who died on May 16, 1995, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cornelius and Obert, and two brothers-in-law, Orvel Olson and Roland Treangen.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Grove. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
