Richard Fredrickson
Richard J. Fredrickson, 78, of La Crosse, died Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.
He was born March 3, 1927, in La Crosse to Roy and Edna (Heitman) Fredrickson. Rich graduated from Central High School in the January class of 1945. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1949. On September 9, 1950,İhe married Norma Kopp at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse, and she proceded him in death on January 5, 1995. Rich was appointedİto theİLa Crosse Police Department as a police officer on May 24, 1950, and served for many years as a Sergeant until his retirement on November 7, 1984.
Rich was a life-long member of English Lutheran Church, La Crosse.İİHe also was a member of the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 and the Thomas L. Rooney VFW Post 1530, both of La Crosse.
Survivors include four children, Pam (Anthony) Garcia of Holmen, Wis., John (Lonie) Fredrickson and Jim (Margaret) Fredrickson, both of Onalaska, Wis., and Jeff (Tara) Fredrickson of La Crosse, Wis.; six grandchildren;İone great-grandaughter;İvery special companion, Elaine; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Fredrickson and Virginia Mannstedt, bothİof La Crosse;İone brother-in-law, Donald Kinstler of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Rich was preceded in death by his parents;İtwoİsisters, Mary Jane and Genevieve, andİone brother, Billy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2005, at 11:00İa.m. at English Lutheran Church, 1509 King Street, La Crosse. Rev. Duane Baardseth will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors by the American Legion Post 52 of La Crosse,İthe United States Marine Corps Honor Guard, and the La Crosse Police Department. Friends may call at the Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road on Wednesday from 4 p.m.İuntil 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
