Another arrest in stolen property case
Another person has been arrested in a regional burglary case.
The Houston County Sheriffís Office announced on November 3 that Janse Randall Bjergum, 24, of Spring Grove was taken into custody that day.
Bjergum was charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property. Five different law enforcement departments served a search warrant at his house at 128 First Street Southwest in Spring Grove. They recovered stolen property from various burglaries and thefts.
It was the fourth search warrant served by deputies and police officers in Houston, Fillmore, and Allamakee (Iowa) Counties.
Richard Allen Dent, 40, Caledonia, has also been charged in the case. He faces two felony counts of receiving stolen property. He was arrested on October 28, and is currently in the Houston County Jail on $10,000 conditional bond. His next court appearance is November 14 at 10 a.m.
Bjergumís next court appearance is November 9 at 9 a.m. He is out of jail on $25,000 conditional bail.
Charges of methamphatamine possession and receiving stolen property were also filed on November 1 against Robert Dean Ellis, 49, Mabel. He is free on $5,000 bail, and will make his next court appearance in Third District Court in Preston on November 14 at 9 a.m.
The Houston County Sheriffís Department was alerted to the case when it recovered a stolen ATV from a residence in Caledonia on October 27.
Other search warrants were executed in Mabel and Harpers Ferry, IA. Deputies recovered stolen property from recent burglaries that occurred in all three counties. Tools, guns, food, and hunting and trapping equipment were confiscated. Controlled substances thought to be methamphetamine and marijuana were also seized in Mabel and Harpers Ferry.
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
Probation violation
In other police news, Darek Wood, 19, was picked up on an apprehension detention order at his home at 1010 Sunrise Lane in Caledonia for possible probation violation.
Police officers and Woodís probation officer found fireworks, ammunition, and a white substance on a spoon that later field-tested positive for cocaine, according to police reports.
Bostone pleads not guilty
In court news, Enrico ìA.J.î Bostone pled not guilty and requested a jury trail at a November 2 court appearance.
Bostone, 18, faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly molesting a boy on two occasions in June of 2005. The boy was 12 the first time and 13 the second time, according to the criminal complaint.
Bostone made a speedy trial demand, which means that it must start within 60 days.
Bostone, who was charged on October 6, is presently in the Houston County Jail in Caledonia. His bail is $86,000 conditional and $43,000 unconditional.
Marijuana case hearing reset
The omnibus hearing date for Mark Casey Richmond, 37, of Houston, was postponed on November 2. No new date had been set as of November 7.
Richmond and Patrick Daniel Dingley, 37, of Rochester are charged in a marijuana-growing case in Houston County.
Dingley will appear on December 5.
They were charged with four counts of third degree conspiracy to manufacture drugs on September 15. They are accused of growing 286 marijuana plants in three different groves on U.S. Fish and Wildlife land and the Gillette property near the Root River in rural Hokah Township.
Dingley and Richmond are both free on bail.
