BOYS SOCCER: Post-season starts this week for the Caledonia boys soccer team.
The Warriors are seeded number three in Section 1A. They will play at home this Thursday at 7 p.m. against Lake City.
If they win, Caledonia will play the winner of the Winona Senior High-Redwing game on Saturday at 5 p.m., also in Caledonia.
Rochester Lourdes is the top seed, and La Crescent is number two.
The Warriors, 11-2-3, defeated Coulee Christian in West Salem, Wisconsin, 5-0 in its only boys soccer game last week. It was their 13th shutout of the season.
GIRLS SOCCER: Girls soccer coach Susan Link got just what she was hoping for-a fourth place seeding in the upcoming section tournaments.
In first place is Lourdes, a team Caledonia beat 1-0 earlier in the season. La Crescent is seeded #2. Caledonia lost twice to La Crescent and beat the Lancers once in a tournament. Byron is seeded third.
The first game pits Caledonia against Red Wing, a team that hasnít won yet this season. The game starts at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Caledonia. On Saturday, Caledonia will host either Cotter or Stewartville at 1 p.m. The next game will be Tuesday, October 18. Section finals are Thursday, October 20.
The girls posted a decisive win against Plainview on October 4, 8-0.
FOOTBALL: Caledonia erupted for 24 points in the second quarter then went on to defeat Chatfield 38-7 in high school football on October 7 in Chatfield.
The Warriors are now 6-0, and ranked number 7 in Class AA by the Associated Press.
VOLLEYBALL: Caledonia faced three teams this past week and have every right to pat themselves on the back for the excellent play they demonstrated.
The Warriors hosted Winona on Monday, October 3 for a make-up match, defeating the Winhawks in three games with scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-21.
On Tuesday, October 4 Wabasha-Kellogg brought their outstanding program to Caledonia. The Warriors hung right in there with the Falcons who have a record of 16-1. W-K is undefeated in the conference and is ranked 8th in the state. Caledonia went the distance with five games, but dropped to W-K with scores of 17-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, and 10-15.
