GIRLS SOCCER: The girls soccer team posted two shut-outs in the first week of section tournaments. The team, #4 seed in the section, was scheduled to meet #1 seed Lourdes Tuesday afternoon in Rochester. The winner of that contest advances to the championship game Thursday and will meet either Byron (#3) or La Crescent (#4). Details on upcoming games will be posted at www.hometownargus.com.
CHS 12, Red Wing 0
The girls had no problem getting past #13 Red Wing on Thursday.
The girls scored five points in the first half and seven in the second.
CHS 5, Winona Cotter 0
During the the first half of the game against #5 Cotter on Saturday, Caledonia was playing against the wind and managed just one goal. When the teams switched directions at the half, Coach Link told her players she wanted the score to end at 5 or 6 to 0. They obliged with four more goals and shut down Cotterís offense.

BOYS SOCCER: The Caledonia boys soccer team got off to a great start in its post-season.
The Warriors, seeded number three in Section 1A, beat Lake City 9-0 on October 13, then edged Winona High School 2-1 on October 15, both at home.
That set up a rematch with La Crescent a semi-final game against second-seeded and arch-rival La Crescent on October 18. The winner advances to the finals on Thursday between the winner of the Austin-Rochester Lourdes game. The time and location is yet to be determined. If Lourdes beats Austin, they will host the game because they are the number one seed. If number four deeded Austin wins, they would travel to the La Crescent-Caledonia winner.

Three wins and a tie
The Warriors, 14-2-4, also tied Winona Cotter 0-0 on the road on October 10, then hosted West Salem a day later to and won 8-0 to end its regular season.

FOOTBALL: Caledonia had another easy football victory on October 14, beating Southland 43-8 in the last regular-season home game.
The game at first looked like it might be closer than the previous ones for the undefeated Warriors, who have outscored their opponents 271-49.
Caledonia faced a third and 19 on its own 14 yard line five minutes into the game and the score tied 0-0. Then Kevin Klug took a handoff, cut through the right side, and raced down the sideline for an 86-yard touchdown run.

VOLLEYBALL: Although the Caledonia volleyball squad fought hard this past week, they could not come up with wins against Kingsland and Chatfield. As coach Scott Koepke said about the Chatfield match, ìThe girls played hard and they fought and scrapped, but we just came up a little short.î The Warriorsí record moves to 9-13, 4-7 in the conference.
Caledonia vs. Kingsland
The Warriors hosted Kingsland on Tuesday, October 11 for a three game match with scores of 23-25, 18-25 and 16-25.
Caledonia vs. Chatfield
On Tuesday, October 13 the Warriors traveled to Chatfield for a four-game match with scores of 14-25, 22-25, 27-25 and 23-25.
