Verna Graf
Verna M. Graf, 86, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia. She was born December 28, 1918, in rural Hokah, to Thomas and Rose (Miller) Davy. She married Leo Graf ÝFebruary 4, 1937 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Hokah. Leo preceded her in death August 25, 1986.
Verna was a devoted farmwife and loving and giving mother and grandmother. After retiring from farming in 1972 and moving to Caledonia, she enjoyed making sequined calendars, gardening, playing cards, visiting with her family and walking her dog Tina.
She was a member of St. Maryís Parish, Caledonia and its Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by two sons, John (Judith) Graf of LaCrescent, and David Graf of Caledonia; four daughters, Anna Marie (James) McCormick of Caledonia, Loretta (Norval) Ladsten of Mabel, Rita (Gene) Schulze and Kathy (Steve) Nelson of Caledonia, former daughter-in-law, Connie Graf of Hokah; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, two sisters, Irene (Fred) Heiller of California, Helen Rose Ormsby of LaCrosse; four sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Davy of Hokah, Helen Davy of Houston, Sister Cornelia Graf of Sinsinawa, WI, and Rose Rita Langen of California; brother-in-law Lawrence (Luella) Graf of Brownsville; and special friends Margaret Stadtler, Nora Murphy and Stella Zimmerman all of Caledonia.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Schulze, two brothers, Roy and Melvin Davy, and a brother-in-law Bill Ormsby.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 22, 2005 at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Friday at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Memorials are preferred to St. Maryís Church, Caledonia.
