GIRLS SOCCER: The Caledonia girls soccer team made it to the section 1A finals last week, meeting La Crescent for the third year in a row. This time, the game ended 1-0 in the Lancersí favor, putting an end to an otherwise outstanding season.
BOYS SOCCER: La Crescent ended Caledoniaís boys soccer season with a 1-0 victory in the section 1A semifinals on October 18.
FOOTBALL: Caledonia won its second straight Three Rivers South conference football title with a 43-21 victory over Rushford-Peterson on October 19. The Warriorsí first Section 1AA tournament game was against seventh-seeded Hayfield (0-8) on October 25, after this newspaper was printed. Look for the score on www.hometownargus.com.
If they won, Caledonia will host the winner of third-seeded Pine-Island and sixth-seeded Wabasha-Kellogg on Saturday in Caledonia. The time of the game is listed as 7 p.m., but is subject to change. Check the website for game time.
The sectional finals will be played on Friday, November 4 at a site and time yet to be determined.

VOLLEYBALL: The CHS volleyball team lost a tough contest to Dover-Eyota in the last regular game of the season on October 18.
The girls lost the first game 19-25, then came back to win the second by the same score, 25-19. A close third game ended 21-25, and the girls battled back to win the fourth game 25-19. The final game ended with a score of 11-19. The girls ended their regular season with a 9-14 record.
The team traveled to Rochester over the weekend to compete in the Rochester Tournament.
That intensity was missing in the first game against Rochester Lourdes in which Caledonia lost both its matches, 11-25 and 18-25. The girls learned from the loss and increased the intensity in their match against Rushford-Peterson and won in two games, 25-23 and 25-21.
The team was looking forward to its match-up with Kingsland, which also lost its first game and won its second. After a slow start and a 10-25 loss in the first match, the girls came back to win 27-25 in the second game. The third game went to Kingsland with a 12-15 score, but Koepke was still happy with how the girls played.
The team maintained its intensity going into its third game with Blue Earth. Caledonia lost the first match 12-25, then regrouped to win the next two, 25-23 and 15-13.
Koepke said he hopes the momentum the girls built up during the tournament will carry them through the first round of sections Thursday night. The team meets Cotter in Wabasha at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of the Wabasha-Kellogg and Plainview or La Crescent match will face the winner of the Caledonia-Cotter match at noon on Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.
