Lenis Runingen
Lenis Runingen, 89, of Greenfield, WI, and formerly of Caledonia, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his residence.
He wasİborn August 5, 1916, in Sheldon Township, Houston County to Edward and Galena (Lee) Runingen, and heİgrew up on his family farm in Sheldon Township. On February 17, 1940 Lenis married Violet Grace Benson at the Immanuel Lutheran parsonage in Caledonia. They lived on farms in Sheldon and Union Townships before moving to Caledonia in 1949. In August of 1951, they moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where Lenis worked as a truck driver for Hillside and Ruan Transports until he retired in 1974. Lenis and Violet then moved back to Caledonia.
Violet preceded Lenis in death on April 24, 2000.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Romine of Greenfield, WI, and Donna Bendel and Diane Kjos, both of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Laurel Runingen of Pewaukee, WI.
In addition to his wife, Lenis was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Orville; two sisters, Thelma Peterson and Janice Papenfus; and a son-in-law, Glenn Romine.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, 2005, at 11:30 a.m.İat Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, rural Houston. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred in Lenisí memory to the donorís choice.
