BOYS SOCCER:
Itís 36 and counting for goalkeeper Lucas Nelson.
The senior made the record books when he and his Caledonia boys soccer teammates blanked Plainview/Elgin-Millville 6-0 on September 15.
It was Nelsonís 35th career shutout, breaking a mark set by Matt Carlson of Stillwater from 2000-2003. Nelson added to his total two days later when Caledonia won a road game at Kasson/Mantorville 3-0.
GIRLS SOCCER: It was a week of wins for the Caledonia High School girlsí soccer team, and no win felt better than Saturdayís 4-3 victory over La Crescent at the Caledonia Invitational.
Saturdayís win avenged the girlsí 1-0 loss to the Lancers on September 6. The win came after two overtime periods.
CHS 4, Loyola 0
In the first game of the tournament, Caledonia had no trouble securing a win against Mankato Loyola.
Caledonia had 19 shots on goal to 2 for Loyola.
CHS 8, Plainview 1
Against Plainview on Thursday, September 15, Caledonia scored five goals in the first half, three of them contributed by Sarah Colleran. Her first goal was with an assist by Erica Myhre.
VOLLEYBALL: The Caledonia Warriors put on a clinic this week about how to go out and win games, and whole tournaments too, for that matter.
Caledonia vs. Plainview
Caledonia hosted Plainview on Thursday, September 15, defeating them in four games. Although leading throughout most of the first game, the Warriors fell to Plainview 23-25, but then came back to win the next three games with scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 27-25.
Waukon Tournament
After a full day of battling it out on the floor at the Waukon Tournament on Saturday, September 17, the Warriors rose champions.
FOOTBALL: How good is this team?
Coaches may hate to hear that hype, but Caledonia High School football fans must be wondering.
The Warriors rolled to their third convincing football win of the year, 34-0 over an always tough Plainview/Elgin-Millville team on September 16 at home. They have outscored their opponents 111-21.
