Ruth L. Ashbacher
Ruth L. Ashbacher, 81, formerly of Spring Grove, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born August 4, 1924 in Mayville Township, Houston County, to Arthur and Adeline (Welper) Kasten. On March 24, 1943 Ruth married Dawson U. Ashbacher at Strawberry Point, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Spring Grove area for almost 60 years. On September 29, 1993, Dawson preceded Ruth in death. Ruth continued to live on the farm until 2004 when she became a resident at Caledonia Care and Rehab. She enjoyed dancing and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith A. Ashbacher of Spring Grove, and Linda Kay (Carl) McLaughlin of Rochester; one grandson; and one great-grandson; one sister, Delores (Charles) Fetketter of Eitzen; two brothers, Hillery (Lila) Kasten of Eitzen, and Paul (Pat) Kasten of Westby; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Cory McLaughin; and three brothers, Marlin, Leslie, and Gailord Kasten.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Eitzen. Rev. Todd Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
