Julian Landsom

Julian Odell Landsom, 89, of Spring Grove died Thursday, April 6 at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, MN.

He was born January 3, 1917 on the family farm in rural Spring Grove to James G. and H. Maria (Tweeten) Landsom. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. He graduated in 1935 from Mabel High School and also attended Luther College in Decorah, IA. He was a farmer his entire life on the farm on which he was born and raised.

On September 23, 1951 he married Vivian Onsager in Decorah, IA. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1999.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, was a past member of the Spring Grove Lions Club, the Sons of Norway and of the Pitchfork and Shovel Society.

Survivors include two sons, Justin (Joyce) Landsom of Spring Grove and Dr. David (Andre) Landsom of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren; a sister Margaret Ness of Spring Grove, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife Vivian, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with Pastor Zane Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
