Three people charged in 2005 theft

Three more people have been charged with crimes related to burglaries last fall.

They are Brian Thomas Dahle, 31; Jessica Marie Holly, 28; and Todd Eric Krogstad, 41.

Krogstad, who lives in Caledonia, faces two felony counts of receiving stolen property. He will make his first court appearance on August 28 at 10 a.m. in Third District Court in Caledonia.

Dahle and Holly are each charged with one count of receiving stolen property and one count of theft, both felonies. Their whereabouts are unknown, and arrest warrants have been issued for them.

The charges are connected to burglaries that took place in Allamakee County, Iowa, and in Mabel in October of 2005.

The complaints, which were filed on July 27, state that Krogstad had some of the stolen items at his home at 120 North Winnebago Street in Caledonia. He also repainted a stolen ATV in his garage at that residence, the complaint states.

Dahle and Holly also had stolen property, the complaint states. Dahle told authorities on November 1, 2005 that he had loaded the stolen ATV onto a truck, and also unloaded stolen items at a Spring Grove residence.

Janse Randall Bjergum, Spring Grove, and Richard Allen Dent, Caledonia, were arrested and convicted in the burglaries.

Trial set for burglary suspect

A trial date for William John Peck, 17, of La Crosse, has been set for September 6 at 3 p.m.

Peck pled not guilty on July 26 to burglary in the first degree, theft of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, second degree burglary and misdemeanor theft.

Another person charged in the case, Andrew Paul Brase, 17, La Crosse, pled guilty to lesser charges in a plea agreement on August 2.

Brase and Peck were allegedly caught in the act of burglary by a rural La Crescent homeowner and her 15-year-old son on July 20 She called 9-1-1 on her cell phone, and authorities arrested Brase and Peck, who was driving the vehicle five miles away. Peck was also charged with driving after suspension.

Nierling trial date changed

A jury trial for Charles R. Nierling, 30, that had been set for August 22 had been changed to December 13 in Third District Court in Caledonia.

Nierling pled not guilty to third and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct on March 1. Nierling is accused of raping a woman at her boyfriendís house in Eitzen in the early morning hours of May 17, 2005. He is now out on bail.
