Roger DeWitt

Roger Warren DeWitt, 66, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his home.

He was born September 17, 1939, in Caledonia to Theodore ìTedî and Dorothy (Fruechte) DeWitt. He was a graduate of Loretto High School and served in the Army Reserves for seven years. He married Marilyn Snyder on September 24, 1960 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia.

Roger worked for Nelson Construction of Caledonia until his retirement. He was a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia and he enjoyed the outdoors; spending time fishing, hunting, camping and spending time on the river and farming with his son.

He is survived by his wife; his mother; three children, Kim (Dana) Pongratz of LaCrescent, Scott (Deanna) DeWitt of Caledonia and Connie (Tony) Wermager of Hokah; 11 grandchildren, three sisters, Sharon DeWitt of Issaquah, WA, Lorrie Oestreicher of LaCrosse, Linda Haustein of Coon Rapids, MN; and a brother, Bob DeWitt of LaCrescent.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 19, at 10:30 am at St. Maryís Catholic Church, 513 South Pine Street, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Hall, behind St. Maryís Church, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday morning.

McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family with arrangements.
