Houston man charged with assault;
burglary suspect arrested Aug. 24

Brian Anthony Kruger, 32, Houston, was charged with felony domestic assault on August 25.

The Houston County Sheriffís E-911 received a report at approximately 9:49 p.m. on August 23 of a domestic disturbance in the city of Houston. Officers from the Houston County Sheriffís Office and the Houston Police Department responded and arrested Kruger.

According to the criminal complaint, Kruger and his girlfriend had an argument over disciplining their child. She went upstairs to pack her belongings, and he pushed her several times and grabbed her by the throat. She called 9-1-1, then he allegedly pulled the phone from the wall.

Kruger told authorities he blacked out and doesnít remember what happened.

Kruger was also charged with gross misdemeanor interference with 911 Call and two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault. Bail was set at $15,000 conditional and $25,000 unconditional. Kruger posted the $15,000 bail and was released. His next court appearance in September 6 at 9 a.m.

Burglary suspect arrested

Christopher Michael Berge, 21, Houston, faces four criminal charges after allegedly burglarizing Crest Pre-Cast Concrete of La Crescent.

The Houston County Sheriffís Office received a complaint from Crest on August 24 at approximately 6:55 a.m., of a burglary, vandalism and theft that occurred to their business the previous evening.

The sheriffís office investigated and disicovered a small amount of money, and a digital scale valued over $600 were missing. There was also vandalism to computers, control boxes, pop machines and doors with damages being estimated in excess of $10,000.

Two plants were burglarized, one in the City of La Crescent and the other in the La Crescent Township. The sheriffís office continued the investigation into the day and evening/nighttime hours and was assisted by Houston Police Chief David Breault.

Berge was charged in Third District Court on August 25 with one count of burglary in the second degree, one count of theft, two counts of criminal damage to property. These charges are all felonies and stem from the incident that occurred at the La Crescent Township plant.

Bail was set at $40,000 unconditional and $20,000 conditional. Berge was unable to post bail and is being held at the Houston County Jail. His next court appearance is September 6 at 9 a.m.
