Fern Ruth Voight

Fern Ruth Voight, 87, died Friday, August 4, 2006 at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove.

She was born August 30, 1918, in Union Township, rural Caledonia, to Robert and Clara (Snure) Hegland. She was a Caledonia High School graduate. On June 7, 1941, she married Delbert Herman Voight. The couple farmed until Delbertís death in 1972.

She was a member of St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen and its womenís groups. She played with the Merry Makers Musical Group. She was a 4-H leader, a member of the Senior Citizens, and a supervisor for the Houston County Fair for 18 years. She received the 1999 Friend of the Fair Award.

She is survived by her daughter Marion (Greg) Petersen of Caledonia; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Selma Voight of Caledonia; and two nephews; and one niece. Also surviving are her special friends Mildred and Lorraine Schmitt. In addition to her parents and her husband Delbert, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Jean Voight, and her brother Robert Snure, Jr.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen. Pastor Elizabeth Stempinski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lukeís Church Cemetery, Eitzen. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. The family requests memorials be given to the Diabetic Foundation.
