La Crosse man charged in sexual assault
A La Crosse, Wisconsin, man was charged in Third District Court on December 8 with third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jason Louis Conry, 23, allegedly raped a woman in her La Crescent home on the night of December 5.
The man and woman had been together that night at her home with some of her family members.
The woman told police that she woke up in the early morning wearing different clothing than when she went to bed. She believed she had been sexually assaulted and went into the living room and asked Conry about it, according to the complaint.
The woman told authorities that Conry said, ěOh my God, Iím so sorry.î
Conry told police he was in bed with the woman when she woke up. Conry told police the woman was upset ěprobably because she did not realize what had happened until after it happened.î
The La Crescent Police Department was notified of the alleged assault by a nurse at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center at 4:10 p.m. the following day.
Third degree criminal sexual conduct involves having sexual penetration knowing the person is mentally impaired, mentally incapacitated, or physically helpless.
Judge James Fabian set conditional bail at $25,000 and unconditional bail at $50,000. Conry is currently in the Fillmore County Jail in Preston.
His next court appearance is December 13 at 9 a.m.
