Alvina Ellingson

Alvina Corine (Solum) Ellingson, 89, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove, where she had been a resident since February 2002.

She was born on the Solum farm on July 14, 1916 to Adolph and Inga (Stenehjem) Solum. She was baptized and confirmed her faith at Trinity Lutheran Church of Spring Grove. She attended country school and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1934. She attended nursing schools in Winona and Minneapolis and worked many years as a LPN at the Spring Grove Hospital and nursing home.

On October 4, 1936, she married Oren C. Ellingson at the Solum farm. She moved to Spring Grove where she lived her entire life.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Oren; four sons: Charles (Audrey) Ellingson of Caledonia, Tom of Mabel, Mark (fiancee P.J.) of Lake George, CO, and Dean (Jennifer) of Spring Grove; one daughter-in-law Jean Ellingson of Rochester; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Ethel (Bill) Thoresen Morgan of Bloomington; two brothers, Elling Solum and Alden (Lorraine) Solum, both of Spring Grove; one sister-in-law Margaret OíNeill of Spring Grove and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Kjome.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran church in Spring Grove. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Grove. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given.
