Walter J. Hughes
Walter J. Hughes, 91, of Houston, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Valley View Nursing Home, Houston.
Walter John was born June 29, 1914, in Wiscoy Valley, Winona County, Minnesota to Frank and Frieda (Kloetske) Hughes. He attended Houston High School and on February 25, 1938 he married Minnie B. Todd, in Money Creek. She died June 23, 2005. He farmed many years in Money Creek Valley, rural Houston, then moved to Winona and was employed at Warner & Swaezy for 30 years.
Walter was a member of Money Creek United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Orient Lodge No. 84 A.F. & A.M., Money Creek, MN and the Rochester Valley Scottish Rite Bodies.
He is survived by a son, Earl, of Greeley, CO; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister Evelyn (Bill) Wells, Urbana, IL; three sisters-in-law: Lillian Spencer, Winona, Thelma Hughes, Houston, and Ethel Hughes, Whitehall, WI; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter-in-law Sondra Kay Hughes, and two brothers: James and Robert.
Memorial service and the Masonic Service to celebrate the life of Walter will be Friday, January 13, at 3 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with Rev. Fauntie Wilcoxon, pastor of Money Creek United Methodist Church, officiating and the Orient Lodge No. 84 A.F & A.M., Money Creek, conducting the Masonic Service. Interment will be at Money Creek Cemetery, Money Creek.
Friends may call at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
Memorials may be given to Money Creek United Methodist Church or Masonic Orient Lodge No. 84 A.F. & A.M., Money Creek.
Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.
