Margaret (June) Wiegrefe
Margaret June Canfield Wiegrefe, 89, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, in Caledonia.
She was born June 20, 1916, to Homer and Luella (Lyons) Canfield in Spooner, Wisconsin, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1938. June then taught English and home economics in Ware, Iowa. On June 20, 1941, June married Marvin Ernest Wiegrefe. They farmed in rural Caledonia. June was active in the Caledonia United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women on local, District and Conference levels. After her children were grown, June worked for and retired from Houston County Social Services.
She is survived by a sister, Polly, of Amherst, Massachusetts; four sons: Bill (Kathy) of Omaha, NE; Jim (Dana) of Miami FL; Gordie (Pauline) of Kenyon, MN, and Doug (Lori) of Kenyon, MN; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorie Canfield, of Trego, WI; an infant daughter, Mary; and a daughter-in-law Barb (Frank) Wiegrefe.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, at 2 p.m. at the Caledonia United Methodist Church. There will be a brief visitation for those who may want to greet family and share memories. A fellowship hour will follow the service. As did her husband, June donated her body to the Mayo Foundation for research. Her remains will be buried at the Memorial Gardens at the Mayo Clinic in 2007.
