Helen O. Hanson
Helen O. Hanson, age 86, of Spring Grove died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.
She was born August 18, 1919 in Riceford, MN to Arnold and Gertie (Jensen) Storlie. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Riceford, and attended the Storlie School in rural Riceford. She was a lifelong area resident.
On July 15, 1939, she married Baldwin Hanson. The couple farmed in Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove, they also ran the Black Hammer Store for ten years. Baldwin preceded Helen in death on November 20, 2002.
Helen worked as a housekeeper at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, and had formerly been a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Riceford, and Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer.
Survivors include two sons, Cletus (Pat) Hanson and Gary (Sharon) Hanson of Spring Grove; two daughters, Audrey (Gary) Urness of Winona, and Karen (Doug) Crane of Marion, IA; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Owen (Janice) Storlie of Spring Grove; and a sister, Ardys Glasrud of Byron.
In addition to her parents, and her husband Baldwin, she was preceded in death by her son Donald, her brothers, Carlton, Albin and Ronald, and her brother-in-law Peter Glasrud.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
