Brownsville shin-digis this weekend
The 2006 Brownsville Days celebration will take place this Friday-Sunday, June 23-25.
ï Friday events: Friday features co-ed softball starting at 7 p.m., and a variety show featuring entertainment by local people. Anyone who wants to share their talent is encouraged to do so. Call Rick Denstad at 507-482-6890 to sign up or for more information. This will be followed by live music by Breakdown.
ï Saturday events: Softball starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday. There will be kickball at noon, and kids games at 1 and 4 p.m. A beanbag tournament takes place at 1 p.m. also. Breakdown Acoustic caps the evening from 8 p.m.-midnight.
ï Sunday events: Sunday starts with more softball at 9 a.m. An ecumenical church service featuring the Spokesmen Quartet happens at the community center at 9:30 a.m. A chicken dinner takes place there from 11 a.m. until the food is gone. There is kickball at 11 a.m. too.
The parade takes place at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Kids games follow at 2:30, plus a horseshoe tournament, and a baseball game of Brownsville vs. Caledonia.
The day ends with kick ball at 3:30 p.m.
The festival is sponsored by Brownsville Lions.
