John H. Duxbury

John H. Duxbury, 79, of Rochester, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Rochester Methodist Hospital, from complication of emphysema.

He was born June 27, 1926, in Caledonia to Lloyd and Valerie (Coon) Duxbury and was reared in Caledonia. He served in the Navy during WWII and following his return, attended the Upper Iowa University. He married Nancy Ginther, and they later divorced. He moved to Rochester and worked at various jobs, including 14 years at IBM. He then co-owned the Village Stitchery and Christmas Shop with his wife, retiring in 1985. He was also a friend of Bill W. for 50 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Hoffman of San Francisco and Deborah D. Cattoor of Des Moines, IA; two sons, John G. of Taiwan and Geordie D. of Rochester; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brother, Myles and Lloyd.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 7, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.
