TRACK: Ten Caledonia/Spring Grove/Mabel-Canton track athletes will advance to the state Class A meet June 9-10 at Hamline University in St. Paul.
They are Zach Gran, who won the 100 meter dash; Amelia Schaller, who won the discus; the girls 4x200 relay team of Laquita Becker, Sarah Colleran, Megan King, and Ashley King; the boys 4x100 team of Andy Marnach, Zach Gran, Kevin Klug, and Karl Klug; and the boys 4x200 team of Gran, Kevin Klug, Lucas Nelson, and Marnach.
As a team, the girls were 6th with 57.25 points. Rushford-Peterson/Houston won with 95 points.
The boys finished 7th with 54 points in the Section 1A meet in Stewartville on May 30 and June 1. Plainview won with 112.
GIRLS GOLF: Janelle Lilliquist, a junior, shot a 90 in the section tournament May 30 for a trip to the state golf tournament. The Caledonia/Spring Grove team took second with a score of 374, dropping behind Lake City, which claimed the section title with a 356 at Cedar Point Country Club in Adams.
Last year, the girls won the section tournament with a score of 346 and went on to win a seventh state title.
BOYS GOLF: Three Caledonia/Spring Grove golfers played in the section tournament Wednesday, May 30.
Kyle Runningen, a ninth grader making his first appearance at the tourney, had the lowest score of the three with an 86. Sophomore Alek Eglinton, another newcomer to the tournament, got an 87.
ėThey are both eager to get back next year,î said coach Mitch Mullins.
Senior Tyler Schulte shot a 95.
