Homer A. Worman

Homer A. Worman, 83, of Caledonia, Minn., died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tomah, WI.

He was born April 19, 1922, in La Crosse, to Homer Sr. and Thelma (Christiansen) Worman. He was a 1940 graduate of Central High School in La Crosse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served as a Boatswains Mate in various areas throughout the world,İending his serviceİon theİship USS Champlin.

On June 2, 1945,İHomer married Mildred Blexrud at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia.İİHe was employed at D. and O. Dental Laboratory in La Crosse for 30 years, retiring in 1976, due to health issues. Homerİboxed while he was in the Navy and alsoİplayed softball in Caledonia and for the Eagles Club in La Crosse.İİHe was a member of the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191, the VFW Houston County Post 3833, the Masonic Lodge #20 F & AM, and the Aidenn Chapter 86 Order of Eastern Star, all of Caledonia.

Survivors include his wife, Millie of Caledonia; three children, Douglas (Sharon) Worman of West Salem, Marilyn (Joel) Downer of Bradenton, FL, andİPam (Al) Mechtel of Caledonia; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Richard (Diane) Worman of Warminster, Penn. and Roger (Dodie) Worman of Lincoln, Neb.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly (John) Wetley.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 17, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer and Rev. Elizabeth Stempinski will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
