Eulis E. Balentine

Eulis E. Balentine, 83, of Eitzen, formerly of Caledonia, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.

Eulis was born October 23, 1922 in Big Flat, AR to Ira and Mary (Treat) Balentine. EulisÝwas a logger and farmed in the Caledonia area for over forty years. He was known for selling sweet corn at Kwik Trip in Caledonia. He married Helen Thimmesch and two daughters were born to this union. Eulis loved his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Eulis is survived by daughters, Nancy (fiancÈ, Kirk Galitz) BalentineÝof Pleasant Dale, NE, and Wanda (Terry) Steele of Caledonia; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Meyer of Eitzen; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Drucilla (Earl) Wilson, Bonnie (Hale) Mitchell, and Rosie Lee (Arliss) Green; brothers, Hartford (Mildred) and Clifford (Dorothy); additional children, Sandra, Betty, Terry, Donald, Mary, Sharon, Albert; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen; a son, Randall Meyer in 1997; a grandchild in infancy; three sisters, Lucille, Blanche, and Chloe; and two brothers, Lester and Eugene.

Services will be Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 419 E. Grove Street, Caledonia. Rev. Steven Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 West Main Street, Caledonia on Friday Ýfrom 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
