Ida E. Kubitz
Ida Elise Kubitz, 97, of Caledonia, and formerly of New AIbin, IA, died Friday, March 17, 2006 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
Ida was born May 7, 1908 in Jefferson Township, Houston County, to John and Mary (Andersen) Moe. She attended school in Winnebago Valley for her elementary education. Ida then attended high school and Normal Teacherís Training School in Spring Grove. She taught in the rural schools for several years.
On June 18, 1930, Ida married Arlie Kubitz at Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage in Caledonia and they shared 73 years of marriage before Arlie preceded Ida in death on January 23, 2004. Together they farmed for many years in Winnebago Valley.
Survivors include one daughter, Ila (James) Hammell of rural Eitzen; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Moe of Houston, and Florence Irons of Northwood, IA.
In addition to her husband, Ida was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; four brothers, Almore, Walter, and Carl Moe, and a brother in childhood; and two sisters, Mabel Krzebietke, and a sister in childhood.
Services will be Thursday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, CaIedonia, is in charge of arrangements.
