Ray W. Ostern

Ray Willard Ostern, 80, of Caledonia died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI.

He was born April 23, 1925 in Spring Grove, to John and Clara (Fossum) Ostern. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII and he was a member of Spring Grove VFW Post 0249. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life.

He is survived by his five children, Barbara (Roger) Olson of Elk River, MN, Audrey (Ed Varney) Stadtler of Spring Grove, Darlene (Gary) Schreiber of Arcadia, WI, Richard (Jodi) Ostern of Caledonia, and Donna (Roger) Pearson of Caledonia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, James Ostern of Caledonia; and two sisters, Mildred (Harold) Manthey and Clarissa (Leonard) Brenna both of Mabel.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Kenneth and Edwin, a sister, Ella and one great grandchild, Alicia.

Private family services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate and burial with military honors will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Spring Grove. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McCormick Funeral Home, 205 East Main St, Caledonia.
