Township elections next Tuesday
Township elections will be held on Tuesday, March 14
There are 17 townships in Houston County. Here is a list of polling places, times, and positions that will be filled for each township.
ï Black Hammer Township election will be held at the Black Hammer Town Hall on County Road 4 about five miles north of Spring Grove, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. No one has filed. David Alstad is the incumbent supervisor; Tilford Ike is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
ï Brownsville Township election will be held at the Brownsville Town Hall on County Road 24 (the old Davy School), from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; clerk, two year term, Incumbent Doris Mitchell filed for clerk. No one filed for supervisor. Bill Flannery is the incumbent. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15.
ï Caledonia Township election will be from 3-8 p.m. in the basement of Caledonia City Hall. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Marty Ranzenberger has filed; clerk, two year term, for which Holly Klankowski has filed. The annual meeting will follow.
ï Crooked Creek Township election will be held at the Crooked Creek Town Hall in the old Freeburg School from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Eldor Wunnecka and Sandy Pattrin have filed; clerk two year term, for which incumbent Andre Moen has filed. The annual meeting will be at 8:15 p.m.
ï Hokah Township election will be held at Hokah Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Mark Von Arx has filed; clerk, two year term, for which Ruth Horihan has filed. The annual meeting will follow the counting of the ballots at 8:10.
ï Houston Township election will be 5-8 p.m. at the Houston Town Hall at the corner of Henderson and Highway 16. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; clerk, two year term. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
ï Jefferson Township election will be held at Jefferson Town Hall on County Road 5 about four miles west of New Albin from 3:30-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. No one has filed for either office. Gale Diersen is the incumbent supervisor, and George Mauss is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting starts at 3 p.m.
ï La Crescent Township will be from 1-8 p.m. at the La Crescent Town Hall in the La Crescent Community Fire Building. The following offices are up for election: two supervisors, three year terms, for which incumbents DeWayne Severson and Teresa Walter have filed. For clerk, two year term, incumbent Karen Schuldt filed. The annual meeting is at 8:15 p.m.
ï Mayville Township election will be held at the Mayville Town Hall on the Houston County Fairgrounds in Caledonia from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Eugene Tessmer has filed; clerk, two year term, for which incumbent Glenn Meiners has filed. The annual meeting is at 8 p.m.
ï Money Creek Township election will be held at the Money Creek Town Hall from 3:30 - 8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Tom Knutson has filed; clerk, two year term, for which Michelle Quin and Robin Thesing have filed. There will also be a special ballot to make the clerks position an appointed position by the board. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
ï Mound Prairie Township election will be held at the Mound Prairie Town Hall, 9749 Highway 21, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Larry Ledebuhr has filed; clerk, two year term, for which incumbent Red Haines has filed. The annual meeting will be at 8:05 p.m.
ï Sheldon Township election will be from 4-8 p.m. at the Sheldon Town Hall in Sheldon. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Burdette Unnasch has filed; clerk, two year term, for which incumbent Sherry Jergenson has filed. The annual meeting will take place at 3 p.m.
ï Spring Grove Township election will be held at the Spring Grove Town Hall from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Bruce Johnson has filed; and clerk/treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Michael Wiste has filed. The annual meeting will take place at 8:05.
ï Union Township election will be held at the Union Town Hall on Highway 44 five miles southwest of Hokah from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. No one has filed for either office. Mike Buttell is the incumbent supervisor; Dennis Conniff is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting will take place at 4 p.m.
ï Wilmington Township election will be held at the Wilmington Town Hall, 14753 County Road 17, from 2:45-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent incumbent Ken Privet and Verdon Olson have filed; clerk/treasurer, two year term, for which Marilyn Sylling has filed. (Incumbent Julie Amundson is retiring as clerk/treasurer after 20 years.)The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
ï Winnebago Township election will be held at the Eitzen Fire Station meeting room from from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. No one has filed for either. Glenn Kruse is the incumbent supervisor; Joyce Staggemeyer is the incumbent clerk. Business meeting will be at 8:05 p.m.
ï Yucatan Township election will be held from 3-8 p.m. at the Yucatan Town Hall, 10155 County Road 4, Houston. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Franklin Hahn has filed; clerk, two year term, for which incumbent Sandra Ask has filed. The annual meeting will be held at 8:05 p.m.
