Kenneth Plenge

Kenneth (Kenny) Lee Plenge, 65, of La Crescent, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

He was born December 21, 1940 in La Crosse, WI to Harry and Irene (Deutrich) Plenge He grew up on a farm in McKinley Valley near West Salem, WI. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Salem, WI. He worked for 21 years as a Livestock Buyer for Armour Company. He also was an independent Livestock Buyer for many years. He was currently employed as a part-time grounds keeper at La Crescent High School.

On February 12, 1959 he married Carole (Mau) of West Salem. He was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Ken was currently serving on the Houston County 4-Extension Committee, and the 4-H Auction Booster committee.

He is survived by his wife; Carole; four daughters, Pam (Steve) Hagel, Deb (John) Brostrom, Chris (Duane) Masterson, all of La Crescent, and Kim (Jim) Scholze of Hokah; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette (Herb) Stello, and Delores (Don) Buisman of West Salem; sister-in-law, Barbara (George) Johnson of Reedsburg, WI; two brothers-in-law, John Mau of La Crosse, and Jim (Lisa) Mau of La Crescent; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Irene Plenge, and his father and mother-in-law Robert and Clara Mau.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Pastor Linda Grounds and Pastor Dave Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in the Toledo Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the La Crescent United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent is in charge of arrangements.
