Greta Ann Hendel Ingvalson
Greta Ann Hendel Ingvalson, age 47, of Caledonia, died April 30, 2006, as the result of an auto accident.
She was born April 7, 1959 in Caledonia to George and Mary Jane (Huesmann) Hendel.
After graduating from Caledonia High School, she went on to graduate from UWL in La Crosse, WI, with a major in Community Health Education and a minor in Photography, Greta had previously lived in Milwaukee, WI, and Chicago, IL, before marrying Don Ingvalson on Oct. 25, 1986.
She had worked as a Health Educator, did public relations work for a rehab firm, and had been a Medical Photographer for Gunderson Medical Center in La Crosse, WI before retiring in 1988, when she started her own photography studio Images by IngvalsonÇ on the couples farm.
Greta was a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church in rural Caledonia, MN, a 4-H leader, a member of the American Dairy Association with her husband Don, and an accomplished photographer. She and her son Devin had recently earned 1st degree Black Belts in Karate from Strongís American Karate.
Greta did not stroll through life, she ran. Her life long passion of photography captured the essence of countless people in her award winning portrait work. Fine art photography was her most recent great adventure. Gretaís greatest joys were farming with her husband of 19 years and being a devoted and inspiring mother to her children. Gretaís unrestrained joy for life was infectious to all who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Survivors include her loving husband Don and their three children Eric (18), Jessie (16), and Devin (15). She is also survived her parents, George and Mary Jane Hendel of Caledonia, sister Katy (Dewayne) Ullsperger of Minnetonka, MN, and brothers Karl and Matt (Pam) Hendel of Caledonia, sister-in-law Cathy Ingvalson of Winona, nieces, and nephew, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Interment of Cremains will follow at Wilmington Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Caledonia. Friends may call Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia on Sunday.
