Lorena A. Pieper

Lorena A. Pieper, 90, of Caledonia, died Friday, May 5, 2006 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.

She was born March 23, 1916 in Union Township, Houston County, to William and Emma (Mann) Krick. Lorena graduated from Caledonia High School and then graduated from La Crosse Normal School. She taught one year of country school in Union township. On September 7, 1935 Lorena married Milton Pieper at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Union Township. Together they farmed for many years in the Caledonia area. In 1978 they retired from farming and moved into Caledonia. On January 21, 1989, Milton preceded Lorena in death.

Survivors include four children, LaVerne (Beverly) Pieper of Stoughton, WI; Dawn Meyer of Phoenix, AZ; Bernhard (Wanda) Pieper of Caledonia, and Joanne (Ronald) Jahns of Markesan, WI; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Violet Pieper of Caledonia and Verna Lindley of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Lou; an infant daughter, Betty; a brother, Ralph Krick; a sister, Irma Kuecker; a son-in-law, John Meyer; two grandsons, Jody Jahns and John Meyer; and a great-granddaughter, Megan Dvorak.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
