County, city election results given
Here is a summary of Houston County, school, and city elections
Houston County
ï Commissioner district 2, Larry Connery won with 918 votes. Randy Steinfeldt received 482 votes, and write-in candidate Tom Knutson received 234 votes. Incumbent Kevin Kelleher did not file.
ï Commissioner, district 4 ñ Dave Corcoran was reelected with 1,590 votes. He ran unopposed.
ï Recorder ñ Beverly J. Bauer was reelected with 7,642 votes. She was unopposed.
ï Auditor ñ A. Peter Johnson was reelected with 7,522 votes, and was unopposed.
ï Attorney ñ Richard W. ìRickî Jackson, Jr, was unopposed and was reelected with 7,352 votes. He was unopposed.
ï Sheriff ñ Doug Ely was elected with 4,862 votes. Ken Frank received 3,959 votes. Sheriff Darryl Petersen was appointed in 2005, did not file.
ï Treasurer ñ Incumbent Audrey M. Petersen was elected with 4,891 votes. Jane Schiltz received 3,648 votes.
ï Root River Soil and Water Conservation Board of Supervisors: District 1 ñ Douglas W. Meyer, was reelected with 7,308 votes. District 2 ñ Tony Becker won with 4,642 votes, defeating incumbent Adolph C. Heimerdinger, who received 2,771 votes. Houston County had a 75 percent voter turnout.
ISD #299 board
Elected to four-year terms on the Caledonia School Board were Charlie Wray (2,012 votes), Naomi Fruechte (1,980), Michelle Werner (1,922), and Matt Hendel (154 write-in votes). Joyce Knutson (2,302) was elected to the two-year term.
Houston school referendum
An operating referendum for Houston School District was defeated 808-508. It would have generated $1,400 per pupil unit for 10 years.
La Crescent school referendum
A referendum for La Crescent School District passed 2,051-1,752 It will bring in about $700,000 annually for a minimum of five years.
City elections
In Brownsville, Tim Serres was reelected mayor with 213 votes. Steve Lee received 61 votes. Joe Serres (168 votes) and Chris Dvorak (149 votes) were elected to the two council position. Pam Walhovd and Sharon Rohrer received 111 and 82 votes respectively.
In Hokah, incumbents Kevin Walther (151 votes) and Lance Ross (129 votes) were elected to the council. Kim Fordahl received 121 votes. Jerry Martell unseated Mike Walsh as mayor, 142-93.
In Caledonia, Mike Morey ran unopposed for mayor and received 1,127 votes. Randi Vick (859 votes) and Paul Fisch (780 votes) were reelected to the council. Matt Schellsmidt received 443 votes and Larry Salm 208 votes.
In Eitzen, mayor Ron Meyer was reelected with 116 votes. Keith Meyer (incumbent) and Nick Schwartzhoff were elected to the council with 95 and 92 votes respectively. Incumbent Jeff Merzenich received 52 votes.
In Houston, incumbent mayor Connie Krenzke ran unopposed and received 371 votes. Incumbents Joe Krage and Cheryl Sanden-Beth were elected to the council with 343 and 328 votes respectively.
In La Crescent, Mike Poellinger was reelected with 1,747 votes. Elected to the council were Gregory Husmann with 1,274 votes and Joy Rockwell with 1,133 votes. Dave Hanifl received 991 votes.
In Spring Grove Don Vesterse won with 350 votes to Dana Kjomeís 239 votes. Sara Holland and Nancy Nelson won council positions with 334 and 277 votes. Nelson had just one vote more than Stephen Kemp, 277-276. A recount on November 13 by county auditor Pete Johnson and Spring Grove City Administrator Tom Falbo made the official tally 278-276 in Nelsonís favor. Rick Vesterse received 213 votes.
