Duane Woodworth
Duane ìWoodyî E. Woodworth, 71, of Hokah, died at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2006.
He was born September 3, 1935 in Minneapolis to George E. and Ida (Johnson) Woodworth. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953.
Woody served in the US Marine Corp Air Wing VMF 214 (Blacksheep Squadron). He received his BA from U of M in 1961, and his law degree from U of M Law School in 1965. He worked as Minnesota Assistant Attorney General, Leach Lake Legal Services, and Director of Black Hawk County Legal Services, Waterloo, IA. He was also in private practice in Minneapolis and La Crescent and was Houston County Judge and President of Minnesota County Judges Assoc. He served on the Board of Directors for La Crescent Lionís Club and Apple Fest.
He was a member of the American Legion, was Advocate/Past Grand Knight for the KCís, president of Crucifixion Parish Council and a volunteer at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare and St. Peterís Catholic School, Hokah.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Bickler), his daughters, Amy Elizabeth (Ed) Goossens, Amy Marie (Archie) Skemp, Frances Margaret Cody, and Patrice Marie Woodworth-Crandall; 16 grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Lynch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Col. George Woodworth; and a sister, Phyllis Ziegler.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, December 1, at the Church of Crucifixion, LaCrescent. Msgr. Donald Grubisch will officiate and interment will be in Crucifixion Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to Fridayís service. Memorials are preferred to Franciscan Skemp Foundation, LaCrosse.
