Fewer than 50 votes separate Tschumper, Davids
There's a recount on the horizon with only 49 votes separating State Representative Greg Davids and his Democratic challenger, Ken Tschumper.
According to unoffical results from the Secretary of State's office, Tschumper had a total of 8,057 votes to 8,008 for Davids.
In the three-way state senate race, Sharon Erickson Ropes emerged a winner with 14,270 votes. Republican Brenda Johnson had 10,802 and Houston County Commissioner Kevin Kelleher, who ran as an independent, had 5,428.
Congressman Gil Gutknecht will be looking for work in 2007. He lost to his Democratic challenger Tim Walz by a count of 141,349 to 126,322.
Governor Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, squeaked by Mike Hatch 1,025,280 to 999,386.
The tranportation amendment, which phases in a complete dedication of the motor vehicle excise tax to transportation needs by 2011,passed in the state.
