Griffith named to WSU Hall of Fame
George ěJebî Griffith of Caledonia is one of five Winona State University alumni who received the 2006 Awards of Distinction.
Griffith received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are graduates who have gone on to achieve prominence in their chosen profession. A reception and recognition dinner were held on October 5.
Griffith earned his degree in business administration from WSU in 1965. As a student, Griffith was involved in the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.
He is well known for his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Winnebago Software Company, which develops library automation software, in 1982.
In 2000, Griffith became CEO of Miken Sports, a manufacturer of composite sports equipment, and he is now CEO of LockNet, Inc., a provider of network security and compliance solutions.
Active in the business world and the community, Griffith fulfilled two terms as area chamber of commerce president, and he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award by the Boy Scouts of America in 2000.
He is involved in many organizations, including the American Society of Safety Engineers. Griffith has shown continued loyalty to WSU. He is a member of the Presidentís Advisory Council and has been a leader in supporting a proposed on-campus fitness center.
In 2000, he delivered the Universityís commencement address, and he continues to participate in the Alumni College: Professor for a Day program and is a past member of the College of Business Advisory Board. Jeb and his wife, Pamela, reside in Caledonia. They have three children and a new granddaughter, Greta.
James ěChipî L. Comadoll also received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Debra Lynn Schulze was the Distinguished Young Alumni Award recipient, Gary W. Evans received the Distinguished Service Award, and Larry James Holstad received the Distinguished Faculty/Staff Award.
