County treasurer candidate

Why are you running for this position? Iím enjoying working for Houston County in all my different positions of employment and I believe in giving back to the taxpayers of Houston County the product of my experience that Iíve gained in my working for Houston County.
What are your qualifications? I started my employment for Houston County as Deputy Treasurer. I was requested by the County Treasurer Fremont Deters to come to work as his deputy in the Treasurerís office. In 1972 the County Auditor Dolores Hauge asked if I would like to come to work in the Auditorís Office as Deputy and in 1978 when Houston County purchased the first computer the County Commissioners requested that I would take the responsibility for operating the data processing department. On March 1, 1985 I was appointed County Treasurer by the County Commissioners. As of this date I hold this office. Starting in 1984 I began serving as a delegate on the Tax Advisory Committee and Executive Board of Minnesota Computer Cooperative of which Houston County is a member. The cooperative is a group of counties which share the programming costs with a group of selected vendors.
What are the biggest issues facing the office of county treasurer? As Investment Officer for the County by using the best judgement in investing the county money to gain the greatest amount of return.
