Oswald ìOzzieî M. Peter, 83,Ýof Caledonia died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Caledonia Care and Rehab. He was born October 23, 1922 in Caledonia to Anton and Veronica (Thery) Peter. He married Jeanette Eikens on January 7, 1946.
Ozzie was a lifelong resident of Caledonia. He was a WWII veteranÝÝwho servedÝin the Navy as an aviation machinist in Hawaii.ÝHe was a lifelong member of the American Legion and VFW in Caledonia. He was also a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. He worked as a carpenter for Becker Lumber Co., and later as a maintenance supervisor at Houston County Courthouse.
He is survived by his six children,ÝÝJames (Linda) Peter of Austin, MN; ÝKathleen (David) Jennings of Caledonia; Donald Peter of Chino Hills, CA; Jean (John) Coldwater of Brownsville; Robert Peter of Coon Rapids, MN and Larry (Siri) Peter of Shoreview, MN; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Lorraine) Peter of Caledonia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, who died in 1988,ÝÝone grandson, Daniel Jennings;Ýthree sisters, Wilma Klug, Irma Lager and Marie Albert, and one brother, Norman Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 25, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burialÝÝwith military ritesÝwill be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Hall where a prayer service will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.ÝÝMemorials are preferred to St. Maryís School, Caledonia.Ý
