Student charged with making threats

Jamie Lee Acker, 17, Caledonia was charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, on October 18.

Acker threatened to beat up a teacher and to kill himself at Caledonia High School on October 17, according to a criminal complaint.

Houston County Sheriffís Department deputy John Tvieten and Caledonia Police Department officer Charles Rolbieki went to the school and found Acker upset and disorderly, the report states. His hand was bleeding from punching a wall.

He was taken to St. Maryís Hospital in Rochester for mental evaluation, then to Many Rivers Juvenile Facility. He was released on his own recognizance. Acker was also charged with disorderly conduct. No new court date had been set as of October 23.

ï Pop machines being hit: Caledonia chief Randy Shefelbine said that numerous pop machines in the city have been broken into recently. The machines are located in unpopulated, isolated areas, he said.

ìTheyíre using a drill to drill out the lock,î Shefelbine said.

Damage to the machines can run from $500-$800, Shefelbine said. ìWeíve had a lot of them hit.î

ï No knife at school: Shefelbine said that rumors of a knife being used in a fight at Caledonia High School were not true. A fight started in school on October 6, and carried into the city park by the swimming pool, Shefelbine said. Seven juveniles were involved.

Shefelbine interviewed the students at school on October 13, which was the day of the Homecoming football game and dance. One student had a knife in his car, but did not bring it in the school or use it in a fight, Shefelbine said. The students were banned from going to the Homecoming game and dance.
