Elsie Meiners

Elsie E. Meiners, 92, of Caledonia, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born June 19, 1914 in Redfield, SD, to Albert and Luella (Haar) Fliehe. She graduated from Tulare High School in Tulare, SD. In December 1935, she married Henry Meiners in Eitzen, MN. Together they farmed on Brownsville Ridge until Henry preceded Elsie in death on May 5, 1963. Elsie continued to live on the farm until 1966 when she moved to Caledonia. She worked as a cook for Frankies and the Coffee House, both in Caledonia retiring at the age of 75.

Survivors include two sons, Marlyn (Carol) Meiners and Stanley (Edna) Meiners, both of Caledonia; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Meiners of Caledonia; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Lucille Pottratz of Eitzen; one sister-in-law, Laura Fliehe of Aberdeen, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lester Meiners; one brother, LeRoy Fliehe; and one infant sister, Mildred Fliehe.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
