Man charged in Hokah burglary

Cole Thomas Hulgan, 25, has been charged with four felonies in the burglary of the Hokah Co-op Oil Associatiovn on the night of October 17.

Hulgan, no permanent address, was charged in Third District Court in Caledonia on October 24 with second and third degree burglary, motor vehicle use without consent, and theft.

Items stolen from the co-op included chemicals, a 1989 Jeep Cherokee, money, and $849 worth of merchandise.

Hokah Police Chief Robert Schuldt located the missing vehicle behind the Hokah swimming pool, and found other stolen items nearby.

Schuldt was notified by the La Crosse Police Department on October 19 that they had stopped a vehicle containing several items that may have been stolen from the co-op. Hulgan was arrested that day after a car chase.

Schuldt and Houston County Sheriffís Department lieutenant Brian Swedberg identified the items as matching the description of what had been stolen.

Hulgan confessed that he burglarized the co-op along with two other men, according to the criminal complaint.

Hulgan is currently in the La Crosse County Jail, where he faces multiple charges related to incidents that occurred on October 16 and October 19.

A Houston County court date has not been set.
