The Falcons came to town on September 25 and took home a convincing victory 28-14.
Despite a great rushing performance from Conner McCormick and an outstanding job quarterbacking by Kennan Bruening, the Warriors came up a little short.
Conner had a 25 yard punt return for a touchdown to get Caledonia on the board. But the Falcons answered right back to take a 20-8 halftime lead. Following intermission, Kennan headed a Caledonia drive with passes to Travis Frank for 27 yards and Conner for 25 yards, before running in from eight yards out to make the score 20-14.
But FC controlled the fourth quarter with a touchdown to close out the game.
On defense the Warriors were led by Troy King with six tackles. Troy had two solo tackles to lead Caledonia. Casey Stemper had great stops also on defense with two tackles for losses and he also assisted on three other tackles. Ross Bearbower pitched in with two solo tackles and two assisted tackles, Conner had two solos and two assisted to go along with a fumble recovery and a quarterback sack.

Special to the Argus
On Monday, September 18 the 7th grade Warriors took charge right from the start of the kick-off. After a 50 yard opening drive, offensive lineman Austin Goergen pounced on a fumble in the end zone to make the score 6-0. Then coach Kevin Klug took a page out of the Chicago Bears playbook. He installed big Austin Goergen at fullback, a la William ìThe Refrigeratorî Perry. It was successful with Austin bulldozing his way into the end zone for the 2 point conversion.
On Caledoniaís next offensive series Conner McCormick dashed the Warriors down to the 13 yard line with nifty runs of 19 and 13 yards. Houston Halverson playing quarterback, found sure-handed tight end Travis Frank for a 13 yard completion for Caledoniaís second touchdown. Bring in ìThe Fridgeî, Austin Goergen again, who carried - sorry - plowed his way through the Trojan defense for the 2 point conversion. At the half it was Caledonia 16, Rushford-Peterson 0.
At the start of the 3rd quarter safety Houston Halverson intercepted a Trojan pass and returned it 28 yards to the Trojan 31 yard line. Then running backs Casey Stemper and Conner McCormick took the Warriors down to the Trojan 5 yard line with runs of 12 yards by Casey and 14 yards by Conner. Next Casey Stemper rambled in from the 5 for Caledoniaís third score. Quarterback Willie Cordes then threw to wide receiver Josh Lampert for the 2 point conversion making the score 24 to 0 Caledonia.
On the following defensive series Houston Halverson again intercepted a Trojan pass. Quarterback Kennan Bruening came in to complete 4 of 5 passes for 54 yards. He threw to tight end Travis Frank for 30 yards, Matt Peterson caught one for 14 yards and Brandon Becker snared on for 10 yards but fumbled it away after being stripped by the Trojan defense.
Later in the fourth quarter the Warriors scored their final touchdown. Running back Kyle Wermager had 2 carries for 14 yards and running back Brett Colsch carried the ball 3 times for 6 yards and Brett also scored Caledoniaís last touchdown of the evening, making the score 30-0.
On special teams, Brandon Becker was superb. Brandon recorded 6 total tackles.
There were a lot of standouts on defense. Ryan Rusert contributed another solid game with 6 tackles, 2 of which were for losses. Troy King switching from linebacker to cornerback also played great. He contributed with 5 tackles. Casey Stemper, always a solid performer came away with 5 tackles. Ross Bearbower came away with another fumble recovery and recorded 4 tackles. Conner McCormick also had a fumble recovery to go along with 5 tackles. Houston halverson had 4 tackles; Travis Frank 4 tackles and Alex Betz 2 tackles and 1 sack for an 8 yard loss.
On offense Conner McCormick again led the way with 64 yards on 6 carries. Casey Stemper had 21 yards on 5 carries with a 5 yard touchdown run. Brett Colsch carried 3 times for 6 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Wermager carried twice for 14 yards; Austin Goergen 2 times for 6 yards and 2 2-point conversions. Travis Frank had 2 receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. Matt Peterson 1 reception for 14 yards and an 8-yard run. Quarterback Kennan Bruening completed 4 of 5 for 54 yards.
