Hilda Bunge
Hilda Mathilda Bunge, 102, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, IA.
Hilda was born June 4, 1904 to Herman and Sophia (Deters) Fruechte of Eitzen. She grew up on a farm about a mile south of Eitzen, attended local country school and the Agricultural School associated with the University of Minnesota.
On April 10, 1928 Hilda and Franklin Bunge were married at St. Lukeís Evangelical Church in Eitzen. They farmed in the area for many years with Hilda acting as business manager. Franklin died in 1984.
Besides her husband, Hilda was preceeded in death by her siblings; two children, Waldo and Eleanor; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two sons, Wilfred (Ruth) and Wayne (Marian), ten grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Memorial gifts may be directed to a Luther College scholarship fund established in her honor on the occasion of her 100th birthday, or to any purpose of the donorís choice. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service and at the luncheon following the service.
