Jury finds La Crosse man guilty of criminal sexual conduct
A La Crosse, Wisconsin man will be sentenced on October 4 at 10:30 a.m. for his conviction of criminal sexual conduct.
On August 31, a jury found Roger Lee Olsen, 40, guilty of 12 counts of first and second degree criminal sexual conduct. The trial lasted three days.
Olsen was charged on February 22 of this year. He assaulted a female under the age of 16 between August 1, 2002, and May 31, 2004.
He is currently in the Houston County Jail.
Hahn sentencing rescheduled
The sentencing for a Houston man convicted last year of criminal sexual conduct has been continued.
A jury found Scott Lee Hahn, 38, guilty on August 2, 2005, of three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. He has been in the Fillmore County Jail in Preston since then.
Sentencing was set for September 8, 2006, but will be rescheduled pending a ruling from the Minnesota Supreme Court on a case that has the exact issues of the Hahn case, according to Judge James Fabian.
Houston County Attorney Rick Jackson said the Supreme Court case is called State v. Hankerson. ìWe are simply waiting for the decision to get handed down,î he said. ìItís a sentencing issue is what weíre waiting on.î
Sentencing guidelines call for a prison term of at least 86 months if the crime occurred prior to August 1, 2000. If the crime occurred after August 1 of 2000, the sentencing guideline is 144 months.
The incidents occurred with a female under the age of 13 on an occasion in 2000-2003. Charges were filed on May 6, 2004, and he pled not guilty on May 12 of that year.
Gieser trial date set
The trial date for Craig Gieser has been set for March 14, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. A pre-trial hearing will be held on February 2 at 10 a.m.
Gieser, 49, was charged on May 3, 2005, with one count of dissemination of pornography involving a minor and two counts of possession of child pornography. The crimes carry a maximum sentence 17 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine; and 30,000 fine. He taught music at Caledonia public schools for 26 years.
