FOOTBALL: Football season arrived in Caledonia last Friday night.
The Warriors blanked St. Charles 27-0 on its home opener, and the weather seemed to say ìAmenî to that.
The start of the game was delayed for 45 minutes due to stormy weather and lightning. The temperature dropped about 15 degrees during that spell, and the wind picked up from the east, and suddenly it was football weather.

BOYS SOCCER: Caledonia is making a boys soccer statement as the team to beat this year.
The Warriors moved to 6-2 with four wins last week. The key victory was a 2-0 win at home against rival La Crescent on September 7.
CHS also beat Kasson-Mantorville 5-1 on September 2, Coulee Christian 7-1 on September 5, and Lake City 5-0 on September 9, all at home.
The win over La Crescent was important, coach Tom Krinke said. ìItí s a direct seeding game, plus itís a way to judge where we stand.î

VOLLEYBALL: The Warriors prevailed over Rushford-Peterson in five games on Tuesday, September 5: 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12.
ìWe started out very fast in this match,î said coach Scott Koepke, ìand after a little lull midway through the first game had trouble with our consistency the rest of the way.
Caledonia hosted a tough Chatfield team on Thursday, September 7, losing the match in four games: 9-25, 18-25, 25-23, 16-25.
Coach Koepke said that he was very proud of how the girls pushed the match to four games.

GIRLS SOCCER: The girls soccer team traveled to two games last week and returned from one with a loss and one with a win.
On Friday, September 8, the team met Dover-Eyota. Despite a first half that coach Sue Link described as ìsloppy,î the girls managed an 8-0 shut out.
