County commissioners approved three conditional use permits at its September 5 meeting.
They were for Nelson Properties in Money Creek Township for rezoning from Ag to General Business District; Isidore Loeffelholz in Winnebago Township to construct a manure basin; and Verdon and Ramona Olson in Wilmington Township to relocate a cabin on property in an agriculture district.
The board added stipulations to all of them. For Nelson, it requires that owner Harland Nelson add an 8' screen, either man-made or vegetative, along Highway 76, and that both the Minnesota Department of Transportation and county highway department approve the access to the property. Nelson will be doing metal fabrication there. The business had been located at 230 South Third Street in La Crescent.
For Loeffelholz, the board required a filter strip below the basin in case the 200,000-gallon basin should overflow.
For the Olsons, commissioners stipulated that the cabin be moved to a spot that is not in the floodplain. The cabin is 384 square feet, which is more than the 200-square foot definition of a cabin that the county now uses.
Commissioners also approved an extension for a mining permit for Jim and Tom Welscher for removal of topsoil.
