Joseph Becker
Joseph S. Becker, 88, of Brownsville, died Monday, September 11, 2006, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1918 in Reeder, North Dakota, to Stephen and Christine (Lukas) Becker. Joseph moved here from North Dakota with his family in 1936. Joe served in the military from 1942-1946.
He married Cecelia Bruening on June 7, 1950, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freeburg, MN. She preceded him in death May 20, 1998.
Joeís lifelong occupation was farming, interrupted only by his service in the military. His passion was his lifelong love of horses and horse back riding.
Joseph is survived by his brother, Richard (Margaret) Becker of LaCrescent, eight children, Bernadette (Richard) Reinhart of Brownsville; Marie (Eugene) Wilhelm, Colette OíHeron, Loretta (Dean) Bartelson, Annette (Al) Christian all of Caledonia; Stephen (Vicki) Becker of Cottage Grove, MN; Jeanine Becker (Kim Auna) of Spring Grove; and Joseph M. Becker of Freeburg; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob OíHeron, and two grandchildren, Jesse Wilhelm and Allee Christian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 14, at St. Patrickís Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrickís Cemetery, Brownsville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Breza Hall, St. Patrickís Church where a prayer service will be said at 7:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
