Orren Flaby
Orren T. Flaby, 74, of Preston, died of cancer on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at his home in Preston following a brief illness.
He was born September 3, 1932, in Lanesboro to Halbert and Ida (Teigen) Flaby. He was raised in rural Lanesboro and was a 1950 graduate of Lanesboro High School. He married Lois Rasmussen on February 17, 1951, at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. The couple farmed until 1975 when they moved to Preston. Orren worked as an assessor in Houston and Fillmore Counties until his retirement in 1995.
Lois died on June 29, 1996. Orren married Marjorie Hahn on July 12, 1997 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also a member of the Preston Lions Club and State Assessorís Association and was also active as an adult 4-H leader.
Orren is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Keith of Minneapolis; a daughter Kathryn (George) Ingram of Rushford; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five stepsons, Doug (Janelle) Hahn of Austin, MN; Randy (Bonnie) Hahn of Preston; Gary (Karen) Hahn of Fountain; Rob (Jacque) Hahn of Cresco, IA; and Tom (Dee) Hahn of Norwalk, IA; a stepdaughter, Mary (Dave) Milne of Harmony; step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerald Flaby of Lanesboro. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Preston.
Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and for an hour prior to Saturdayís service.
