Edna Renk
Edna M. Renk, 95, of New Albin, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Thornton Manor, Lansing.
She was born March 14, 1911 in Jefferson Township, Houston County, to Henry and Bertha (Pohlman) Hahn. Edna married Alvin Renk at St. Peterís U.C.C., New Albin. Together they farmed for many years in Union City Township, IA (Wheatland) until 1975 when they moved into New Albin.
On November 29, 1989 Alvin preceded Edna in death. Edna was an active member of St. Johnís United Church of Christ, Wheatland. She was active with 4-H and served as a volunteer for more than 40 years at the Allamakee County Care Facility.
Survivors include one son Kermit (Carol) of New Albin; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Ray (Esther) Hahn of La Crescent, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Art, Henry, George and Edward Hahn, and three sisters, Marie Vonderohe, Esther Schaller and Alma Vonderohe.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. at St. Johnís United Church of Christ, Wheatland. Rev. Paul Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the New Albin Townhouse and Chapel on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 12 noon until the time of service. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
